FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are you interested in working with me?
Here are some common questions I receive.

  • Who doesn’t love a large-scale or flashy project? But I also love the curious, the slightly oddball, the tiny but fascinating project. So the scale of the project is irrelevant.

  • I’ve worked on projects that have taken anywhere from a couple of days to several months; it all depends on the scope and complexity of the project. Nothing is too big or too small. Let’s talk.

  • I find that working on a few projects at once is great for creativity and benefits all the projects, but I’m also very aware of my capacity and make sure that each project gets my undivided attention. Get in touch and we’ll discuss availability.

  • I often can — availability depending, of course. Contact me and we’ll see what we can work out!

  • Revisions are part of the collaborative nature of the process of working with me. The initial estimate includes three to four rounds of revisions.

  • Because the best visual journalism and scientific illustration is the product of a conversation, a discussion, much thought, and much back-and-forth with a client — in short, a human collaboration — I do not use AI in my illustration and design process.

  • I love to write. I wrote all the copy on this website. Take a look at my blog posts for examples of my writing.

“Violet Frances is an amazing artist who consistently delivers insightful and engaging work. Her extensive experience visualizing a wide array of topics, including science, health, and business, makes her fast and exceptionally versatile. For example, her cover illustration detailing one woman’s experience with a double mastectomy won two Awards of Excellence at the Society for News Design competition in 2025. Her work is truly impressive and never ceases to amaze.”
